March brings thoughts of spring and activities surrounding our garden and the creatures that call it home. The rain has added interest as we harvest broccoli, cauliflower, chives, and chard. Watching children pick and eat right out of the garden brings a smile to our faces, especially when we see how much they enjoy each bite.
Depending on our water supply, we will plant for the summer and continue to use our garden to help us learn about our food supply. Each of us discovers something new each season. We spotted our first ladybug on Friday. It was a treasure for one child in particular. He watched it in the bug jar, carried it to snack, and then it was carefully delivered it back to the garden. Our garden has become a source for teaching respect for all living things, especially the creatures that thrive in our rich soil. Our hope is that the rain will continue to provide us with the needed moisture for the months ahead.
THERE ARE SEVERAL DATES THAT WE ASK YOU TO PUT ON YOUR CALENDARS.
CELEBRATION: On May 1st, we will celebrate with the children who will be entering kindergarten in the fall. At 11:30, we with gather the children and their guests for a time of sharing thoughts and experiences. At 12:00, we will join everyone who attends on Friday for lunch provided by the preschool. If your pre-kindergarten child does not attend on Friday, a special invitation is extended to your child and family to participate. We hope that this will be a special day for the children who will enter the next stage of their education. As the children leave from the end of May and throughout the summer, we will hold them in our thoughts as they experience their first year of elementary school.
FAMILY POTLUCK: May 15th will be the Family Potluck at the preschool from 5pm until 6:30pm.
SPRING BREAK: Our Spring Break is Monday, March 23rd through Friday, March 27th. We will return on Monday, March 30th.
Sincerely,
